Flying to Rome is the best way to get to the city and start on your vacation. The city has two major international airports namely Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA).
Majority of flights land at Fiumicino which is considered to be a major international airport in Rome. However, budget flights and smaller airlines from parts of Europe can also land at Ciampino before passengers connect to other parts of the city. Major airlines prefer to land at Fiumicino because of its size and the amenities which are beneficial to the crew and passengers on board. Even so, the airport handles budget flights from time to time when they are scheduled to land on its runway. If you are traveling from these airports to the outskirts of Rome, you will need to take a taxi or the train depending on your final destination.
